In April 2023, Campisi opened a new office in Toronto’s downtown core. The office, located at 15 Wellesley St West, was opened to better serve accident victims living downtown, and also gives Campisi employees an opportunity to work closer to their clients.

Recently, the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) published its 2023 Automobile Insurance Indexation Amounts Guidance. This Guidance, effective January 1, 2023, establishes the amounts related to insurance claims that are subject to indexation for 2023. Indexation is tied to the Canadian Consumer Price Index (CPI) and varies year to year.

In the CTV News article, “Dry Shampoo Recall Could Lead to Class Action Lawsuits“, Campisi’s Peter Murray weighs in on this possibility in response to a recent hair product recall by several popular drugstore brands. The story was written after Health Canada issued a recall in October 2022 for over 1.5 million dry shampoo products over concerns about them containing traces of the cancer-causing chemical benzene.

In the October 11th, 2022 article, “Elderly Couple Struck by Pickup Suing for $3.4 M“, local news publication Thorold Today cites the expert opinion of Campisi leader, lawyer, and Osgoode Hall professor Joseph Campisi in a story about a St. Catherines couple who are suing a Thorold city councillor for $3.4 million, alleging he was “careless” and “incompetent” when he hit them with his pick up truck as they crossed a downtown intersection in 2019.

In the June 28th, 2022 article, “Record Damages Awarded in Disability Insurance Lawsuit“, leading newspaper The Toronto Star cites the expert opinion of Campisi leader, lawyer, and Osgoode Hall professor Joseph Campisi in a story about a woman who was awarded $1.5 million in punitive damages after 6 years of refusal by her insurance company to pay her long-term disability benefits. According to the article, this amount is “the highest known amount an individual has been given in Canada”.
