Personal Injury Lawyer (Junior Lawyer Mentorship Opportunity)

Job description

  • Leverage your 1-2 years’ post call plaintiff personal injury or insurance defence experience to do more satisfying and groundbreaking work.
  • Please note, this role is ideal for a junior lawyer who is seeking a mentorship opportunity and has the enthusiasm to grow their career in personal injury law. You will be supervised by an intermediate lawyer. This is a full-time permanent role. Successful candidate can expect an 8-12month mentorship term.
  • Successful candidate has experience practicing law in Canada, within personal injury law. All applicants are welcome; preferred candidate holds a law school degree from Ontario university.

Core Focus

  • Provide candid, strategic advice to a diverse range of clients
  • Positively engage your team and conduct regular file reviews to effectively plan and manage each case
  • Draft a range of documents including facta, opinion letters, settlement conference memoranda, pleadings and various applications
  • Conduct legal research
  • The opportunity to work on all aspects of a case including liability, financial and medical investigations
  • Attend examinations for discovery, case conferences, mediations, IBC and other insurance conferences, motions, appeals, pre-trial conferences, trials, and mediations/arbitrations and other hearings at the LAT, etc.

Job description

  • File Management: Maintain and organize client files with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Keeping Lawyers on Track: Manage calendars, deadlines, and schedules to ensure lawyers stay organized and focused.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare, proofread, and organize legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and accident benefit applications.
  • Client Support: Act as a point of contact for clients, providing updates, gathering information, and maintaining trust and confidence.
  • Court and Insurance Liaison: File court documents, manage communications with insurers, and track timelines for statutory accident benefits claims.
  • Trial, Hearing and Mediation Preparation: Assist with organizing evidence, drafting briefs, and coordinating expert reports or witness schedules.
